Madonna is Hot!

July 17, 2006 @ 9:59 pm ·

About a week before the Madonna concert we received a phone call from our favorite Seven Star asking if we would like to go to the Madonna concert for FREE! After much consideration (ha) the answer was Yes! Hoping we would have a pup sitter, my mother reluctantly agrees before I even have a chance to ask because she was with that special Seven Starer when the phone call was made. Of course both my parents were happy to watch Floppie and Ebony!

Like good Christian folk we get up Sunday morning, get our Dunkin Dounut coffee and off to church we go! Trying to concentrate on the service and not think about our fun day in the sun and our evening at Madonna we realize we would have been better off taking part in the "Bedside Baptist" that morning!

We stop at a friendly place called El Patio for a great breakfast in NJ. We arrive in AC, meet up with Josh's mom and proceed to walk the boards in the heat of the day. Yes, it was an overly warm day. We stop at Resorts for a drink – a Tequila Mohijto – at 25 Hours, a bar on the casino floor. Since we had a very special dinner engagement that evening prior to the concert, we decided we would be on our BEST behavior and stop with one drink. We walked to the new Pier Mall and saw all the new stores including a really neat candy store! We could have went crazy but didn't!

At 5:00 we had dinner reservations at Casa di Napoli in the Showboat with Josh's parents. The food was really good and the drinks too!!! Since we were celebrating Mrs. J's birthday, a birthday cake was delivered to our table and boy was it rich!

After dinner Josh and I made our way to our "bus". We were told that we would have a shuttle take us from the Showboat to the Convention Center for the concert. We walk outside and are greeted by "Who is your Host?", Josh announces his name and with that the door to a Limo is opened, negating the bus completely, which is parked right behind the limo. So off we go, we arrive at the Convention Center and are dropped off "Behind the Scenes" – Behind the Metal Detectors, Behind all the long lines, Behind everything but the escalators going up, it was great!!! We make our $5.00 T-shirt purchase (along with the $60.00 bag) and off we go to get a cocktail before locating our seats.

This is where the fun begins, or at least Madonnas fun. As we wait for our drinks to be made, the man simply states "She is on my nerves", referring only to , yes Madonna. Here Madonna had requested that the AC be turned off during the day while she prepared for the concert that evening. All the staff suffered to make her happy. They handed out short sleeve polo shirts for all the staff who worked during the day so their evening uniforms would not be ruined for the concert that night. Josh and I proceed to enter the auditorium to locate our seats, which were fabulous!!! So close!!! Josh loved how he could see behind the stage. Ya know those techie guys they concentrate on all aspects of things! While I'm watching Madonna get her groove on he is watching the guy behind the stage pour a glass of water. As I say, to each their own!!!

As we are waiting we start to take notice to the temperature. Now being that we got there so early, do to our VIP service, we had a lot of extra time before the show was to start. Madonna was to come on at 8pm, well as we are noticing the temperature getting warmer and warmer, Madonna is not making an appearance. She is waiting for the temperature to get to 77degrees before she will begin her show. Apparently, getting on peoples nerves, turning off the AC, making people sweat for an hour, is common for she has to take care of her precious voice.

After much anticipation and body heat, Madonna made an unforgettable entrance and performed for 2 hours straight. She sang mostly new songs from her new album Confessions on a Dance Floor. She did a few old timers along with songs from Ray of Light and Music. It really was incredible and so worth the sticky, sweaty, uncomfortable closeness for 2 hours straight. She really put on a great show! Highly recommended even if the tickets are astronomically priced.

So we made it back to the Showboat and went to our favorite House of Blues restaurant. We have been there a few times, not for eats, but for drinks and to people watch. Josh and I both love to watch people and get such a laugh from people and their actions, attire and overall appearance. Without sounding to shallow or rude, some people are just clueless.

Overall it was a great time and I am so lucky to have been able to see Madonna!

A Special Thanks to Mr and Mrs J along with our Pup Sitters!
