Cleaning the Garage (i.e. Fishie’s Bedroom)

August 5, 2006 @ 10:54 pm ·

For the last few months we've been discussing finally cleaning the garage and getting everything organized.  Okay, here's what this really means: All crap we don't need anymore needed to be thrown out, all tools and stuff like that needed to be put in it's proper place and everything either needed to find a home or be tossed.  Why you ask?!?!  Fishie, why else…  See, while JR sits out in the hot hot weather sweating all day, Fishie sits in the cool garage protected from all the elements.  Is that fair you ask?  Well I guess it all depends on who you ask.  And if you ask me, if Megan is around when I answer. 🙂  Okay, back to the topic at hand, Megan and I woke up this morning, made our typical breakfast (yum, potatoes and eggs) and started cleaning Fishie's bedroom, err, the garage.

We began by building the new shelves we purchased about a month ago, this way we would have a staging area to sort the tools that were scattered around the entire garage.  After finding all the tools and putting them in their proper staging area (Megan says: "How can someone have so many different screwdrivers that they will probably never use.  Two 14 inch regular screwdrivers?  Why?!?!").  After putting all the tools into the tool box in an orderly fashion, we decided to move onto throwing away anything we didn't need.  Thanks to the Invisibods we had a huge dumpster sitting next door in their driveway.  Well, we decided to take advantage of it and throw away some of the bigger items we no longer needed, keeping our garbage men happy.  They have been known to place our garbage can behind our cars on rainy days because of all the moving boxes filled with trash that we threw out.  We're glad they're happy now!  We then decided to fill Fishie with everything going to our storage unit – i.e. the shed.  Yes, we have one of those too.  And, as you probably guessed, it was Megan's idea.  But believe it our not, none of her clothes are there (Josh says: "How can someone have so many different clothes?  How many shoes can one person possibly need?!?!").

Being that Fishie doesn't like to stay out at night, we (err, Megan) decided (err, demanded) to bring her in for the night.  After Fishie is parked and covered with her blanket, I simply said to Megan "You know, we could leave Fishie outside and probably fit TWO of JR in here now".  She didn't appreciate my humor.

After putting the finishing cleaning touches on our newly reorganized garage, we've realized that we have way to much storage space and not enough "junk" to fill it with.  I guess we're going shopping tomorrow…

Oh dear me, you stuck to it and cleaned and got all organized. What a great feeling! I agree, no more purchases. Just keep it that way, nice and tidy. And we were camping and relaxing. :):)
