I know, our address is 516 Upland so why am I writing about 520 Upland…. well… you heard about The Invisibods, now it is time to hear about our neighbor on the otherside of us, “Talky-Talk Nosey Rug Shaker”!
You have heard her name mentioned in a few of our recent posts so I only felt it be fair that you hear the reason of why she became known as “Talky-Talk Nosey Rug Shaker”.
Many many months ago (well over a year now) Josh and I started noticing odd behavior of the house next door to us. Josh and I live in an end unit of 4 townhouses and the next set of townhouses is only a matter of 30 feet away from our property line. Floppie and Ebony being non-toilet trained (he he he) have to go outside regulary and while we have two dogs that listen very well, not having a fenced in yard we worry that they will spot a squirrel or a person and run so we go outside with them. While outside we started to notice that our neighbor (yes, Talky-talk Nosey Rug Shaker) had her draperies in her back two windows pulled back with a chair up against the window… hmmmm odd, even odder is when you see her sitting in the chair staring at us!!!! How freaky! This is where the nickname “Nosey” came from.
During the warmer months of the year “Talky-Talk” would come out onto her back porch and just talk away, she couldn’t hear a word we would say back, but she would just talk and talk and talk… One time in particular she was talking to me about how I should not let our dogs out too far for they may get poison and how they used to have a dog and he got poison for being out in the woods. She went on to say that there may be a lot of poison near our “boat rack” (yes you read correctly, a boat rack – do we have a boat?) What she was refering to was our wood rack somehow mistaking it for a boat rack (crazy, hmmmm).. So this is how she became know as “Talky-Talk” and “Crazy”.
Eventually a white rug started to accompany her every time she came out on the porch to talk with us. Now for two elderly people (she has a husband) they must be very dirty for this white rug was making frequent visits to the outside. Literally every time we were outside in the daytime, out she would come with her white rug! Hence how the name “Rug Shaker” came to be!
Combining all the happenings that have occured our lovely neighbor has become known as “Talky-Talk Nosey Rug Shaker”!
As Mr Rogers says, “Won’t you be my Neighbor”……

Let’s also not forget that during the warmer months of Spring and Fall when we have our Living Room windows open with the drapes pulled, she’s been caught a few times watching us. Strange. Actually, a little freaky.

It is so nice that you two lovely lovely young people are able to enlighten the lives of a senior. Right! Look at all those H/F games and the visits. THANKS. We love you both.

Your neighbors are only getting you ready for the “real thing”….. your parents later on in life!
Their not dirty, their real, real clean, that’s why she shakes the rug everyday.
And…. maybe she let the cat out of the bag, and Megan is getting you a boat for Christmas, and hid it under the wood pile. You never realy know!
Sorry, I have to be on the side of the seniors, because those moments could be just around the corner. I know this to be true becasue I got my first AARP letter.
