Have you ever been addicted to a TV show? And if you have, have you been able to pull yourself away from that TV show to carry on with your life and daily activities? I can officially say that I, along with Josh and my brother, are going through an addiction right now that is pretty much occupying every thought, dream, and even conversation with each other. That addiction would be LOST!
Josh and I listen to 93.3 WMMR (Preston & Steve) on our morning trips to King of Prussia. Every Thursday morning they have a time slot dedicated to talk about and recap the previous nights viewing of LOST. This past fall, Josh and I continued to hear about the show starting with how they were having a “Lost Party” because the show was entering it’s third season! Every week we would have to sit through Preston and Steve going on about each episode with their viewers. Their viewers would call in and ask questions or make comments about things that happened on the show. Josh, having seen a few episodes during the first season, found it interesting to listen and pick up on tidbits about what was currently going on with the show. I on the other hand had no idea what was going on, who the characters were that were being mentioned and most importantly how these people all became lost on an island together!
We decided that we should buy the DVDs (the first two seasons are able to be purchased) and catch up so we can pick up with the show when it returns from it’s Mid Season break. Luckily Josh and I were able to borrow both seasons from a co-worker and burn copies for ourselves. My brother, being over in Morocco, does not have much to keep himself occupied after sundown or in his own “free” time, so we have been burning him copies of movies and tv shows and sending them to him. We decided to add LOST to the list, well he’s addicted and begging for the 3rd season!!!
To give you a brief overview of the show, without giving anything away, LOST is about plane of people who get stranded on an Island in the middle of no where. These people end up working together to survive. Initially they make a “home” on the beach figuring that any passerbyers would see them and/or smoke from the fires made on the beach. Dwellings have been made out of parts of the plane, wreckage, etc. Figuring they will be rescued in a matter of days, many become comfortable “living” on the beach, while others decide to search the island and see what there is to offer. Upon hearing noises and being chased by many a different creature, some unknown, many of the “beach-folk” decide to head into the island and make a new home from the caves located only a mile or two in from the beach. One of the “neat” things about this show is the way topics and story-lines develop. For example, one of the main concerns after 3-4 days of living on the beach was the lack of drinkable water. Some didn’t care while others went in hunt of water, draining fresh water off of plants. The drinkable water became “gold” and someone took the water leaving nothing but empty bottles for everyone else. This started a “war” between many of “who took the water” – who would do such a thing???? Those in hunt of water continued to hunt for water and in the end the culprit came forward and fresh drinkable water was found at the caves where some folk decided to take shelter!
As the episodes continue, some people start to turn on each other, fighting and thinking they know what is best for everyone. Some people go off on their own only to get caught up into disasters without help from the plane wrecked folk they decided to get away from! One of the BIG untold and unknown storyline is about “The Others” supposedly there are other people on this island and they do not like the plane-wrecked folk causing many an unanswered question as well as noises daily and nightly. Unexplainable happenings continue to occur throughout the episodes, keeping you on the edge of your seat wanting nothing more than to stay up because there is only one more episode on the disk!
Josh and I have found ourselves wanting nothing more than to come home and watch LOST. The first weekend we watched 16 episodes and finished the 1st season in one week!!! This show has to be the most addicting show I have watched in a long time and no other show currently running compares to the pleasant addiction LOST brings!
Let LOST continue…..

Apparently I had better watch “Lost”, because at this moment, after reading your most waited for entry, I am nothing but “Lost”.
