The last couple of weekends have been rather busy in terms of wedding planning. While not giving too much away, we wanted to let everyone know what we’ve been up to.
After having lunch with Josh’s Mom in New Jersey one weekend, we ventured to Papyrus – a stationary and invitation store – in Marlton just wanting to get some ideas, thoughts and overall look of the invitations that are available. We spent a good two hours looking through book after book trying to find the perfect invitation for our 10/11/08. It’s really amazing what people consider to be an attractive invitation when we both think they are not us ((ugly, extremely ugly)). We did manage to find a few invitations that we really liked and possibly found the invitation that we would like to use. We’re probably going to spend a few more days in a store somewhere looking through countless books again, but at least we know there’s one invitation we both think fits us.
Two weekends ago after church we found ourselves in a little bakery in the middle of Boyertown, PA. Dices Creative Cakes is the bakery we chose for the most important dessert of our 10/11/08. Mary Dice showed us sample wedding cake designs, varying in size, shape and color. Giving us advice and some of her opinions as to what she felt was best, but never made us feel pressured to decide one way or another. After reviewing the many design options and both changing our mind on what we thought we wanted, we came to a mutual – very happy and excited – decision for the cake design. Finally it was time to sample different cake flavors ((yyyuuummm))! It was pretty much a hands down decision as to the flavor of the cake we would like for our wedding. But we’re not giving that much away! We don’t have to have the final say in to Mary until the end of March 2008, so things might change! Plus, we’re now accepting bribes.
Finally last Monday we had our first meeting with our second ((really our first, it’s a long story)) florist. Being that this person is a personal friend to us, it makes things a lot easier and comfortable when doing business. Yes, it’s Monte, and yes we know you probably don’t know him. But we like him and that’s that! 😀 Seriously, Monte is the husband of Megan’s boss Sonia – other then spending countless hours at work together, we’ve been known to spend some time together after hours for dinner and special occasions – they’re great people. While Monte has a full time job with SEPTA, he spends a lot of his free time creating floral arrangements for Church, weddings, special occasions and has also taken part as a participant in the Philadelphia Flower Show. Before dinner ((yum again)) Monte gave us an overview of the flowers available and recommended for the October season. He also took into consideration our color scheme ((which we’re not giving away yet!)) and cost, which was really cool! Since there are so many flowers to choose from, we left their house that night with homework. Yes, homework. We’re looking forward to working with Monte ((yes, you too Sonia!)) in the future! He’s so sweet that he even offered to go with us when we meet our first ((really our second)) florist.
As for a DJ, nope, still don’t have one…

Exciting (I think), Colorful (Don’t know), Enough information (don’t think so)….
You guys are so cute keeping all this a secret. Just want the colors before the wedding (HaHa). Bribe #1: Seventy-Five Dollars for a Hint!
Since “People on their birthdays should have a chocolate cake”, I don’t think it’s chocolate. Bribe #2: Twenty-Five Dollars for a Hint! (Less important to me…. I like all cake, I’m just curious! 🙂
