No “H” just a bunch of Witches!

The saga continues… After being told my wedding gown would arrive 2 months after the original H logo dress was shipped back to the manufacturer I was starting to feel a bit more at ease. Still have plenty of time I kept convincing myself – HA! It wasn’t that simple or easy!

Close to 2 months after I was told my second gown would arrive, I called Bridal town to check in since I had not heard anything from them. Much not to my surprise, the dress was not in and for a good month, I was playing the run around game with almost every employee, including my lovely, but ever so witchy saleswoman Gail. I really feel I was given every excuse in the book as to where my dress was, what happened to my dress, and really feel I was given the run around when I asked to speak to the person who handles shipments and special orders. Twice I was told he was rushed to the hospital and that he was the only one who could handle and speak to the manufacturers! This I find extremely hard to believe, having retail experience, I just can’t believe that only one person has the ability to speak and handle orders. Numerous times I asked for return calls and was promised I would receive a return call, only to be let down and have to continually call and hound and get a bit irate with the staff.

I was given a few dates in which the dress was to be delivered and asked for them to call me when it arrived. I learned to not hold my breath, but I am starting to think if I would have held my breath all the times I asked them to do something for me (after all I am the customer and To Be Bride) I may have the World Record for the person who can hold their breath the longest! Every time I was told that the dress was not delivered and that they would check with the manufacturer. This went on for weeks! I just don’t get how a place can stay in business treating their customers in such a nonchalant manner.

Finally the day came that I called, yes nothing changed with their customer service skills, and I was told the dress was expected in the next day. It was being shipped from NY and would take 2 days. Wait a minute… 2 day shipping!?!?! Why originally then did my dress just not show up??? Not good, just not good.

I made arrangements to pick my gown up the following evening. I asked if I was to pick it up at the same location as I did when the 1st gown came in (the one with the unwanted logo). I was told no that my dress and veil would be at the front desk. I asked if I would be able to try the dress on to make sure all is okay with it and I was told that would not be a problem.

Mom met me the next evening at Bridal town and much not to our surprise, this did not go smoothly. Without getting into too much detail, my dress was missing and they did not have it in the front lobby. In fact, they didn’t understand why I was told to pick it up there and why I was told I could try the dress on there. For they don’t allow dresses to be tried on there and that should be done in the alterations and fitting area (which is where I picked the logo dress up originally). I was sent up to the alterations and fitting area and was told my dress was up there… guess what, no dress. At this point I was beyond furious and while I tried to keep my composure, I became the overwhelmed and frustrated bride and I started to cry. This fiasco has been going on since October when I ordered the dress and I really was not having the experience a bride should be having when getting her gown!

After much frustration and more of the typical run around treatment that this place seems to excel at, my dress was found in the warehouse along with my veil.  (where they keep the gowns and shipments until the “owner” comes to pick them up). Best part about the whole ordeal, my sales lady, Gail, who could not stop calling me “her bride” the day I tried on and ordered the gown, did not say one word to my Mother or myself, and would not even look at us.

I left that day with my gown and veil in hand. While I am very unhappy with the sales department of Bridal town, the seamstresses were very friendly and even remembered me from 2 plus months ago when I was there and tried on the logo dress. I will be working with the seamstresses from this point on with all my alterations etc. I just hope that goes smoothly and they don’t turn out to be the witches that the sales department turned out to be!

Thank you Mom for helping me handle “The Witches From Bridal town” – while unpleasant, it was nice to have you with me in this memory I will hold with me forever – the picking up of the gown I will wear when I walk down the isle to my future! I love you!

As horrible as the event was, it is nice you are telling about it and it is now turning into a somewhat fun (story, event, thought, happening) to share with friends and family. And, Megan, my dear daughter, i am so honored to have been invited to accompany you on this most wonderous occasion.

No wedding would be complete without some sort of special memory. I for one got to watch in horror as our wedding rings rolled toward the creek, that we thought was so beautiful, during the ceremony…
