It is always said that we should look out for our earth and help save trees, recycle and to never litter. While Josh and I agree with these ways, we had a situation earlier this week that really surprised us!
Being that we live on a hill we somehow seem to get horrible winds. Winds that make it feel as though our house will crumble to the ground, we had these winds on Monday night. Of course Monday evening was trash night, so our trash can and recycle can were set out at the end of our driveway. At 10pm we decided to head to bed and all we heard was our trash can crash to the ground and trash spilled out all over the street. Josh went outside after the trash and placed it all back into the can and set the can back up.
Needless to say, Josh nor myself slept much that night. Every 5 to 10 minutes we’d hear the wind howling and eventually our trash cans were violently thrown to the ground followed by the sounds of aluminum and plastic parading Upland Street. This continued for hours and we both peeked outside to see what all the commotion was about to find that our trash can and recycle can were the only two cans that were dancing and parading around our street! All our neighbors cans were steadfast and not moving an inch!
I began to feel guilty as in a round about way we littered all our trash and recyclables throughout our entire neighborhood. The more I thought this over however the more I realized that Josh and I did exactly as we were taught to do:
- Throw out our trash in a trash can, setting the can out at the end of our driveway for pickup
- Throw out all recyclable materials, setting the can out at the end of our driveway for pickup
Mother Nature on the other hand let out her evil side and decided to litter using our trash and recyclables to have her fun!
The next morning driving down our hill I saw familiar pieces of trash and recyclable items nestled in the trees, shrubs, alongside the road and in people’s front yards. I couldn’t help but again feel guilty but Mother Nature had her fun!

Absolutely love the two bullet points – laugh out loud funny to me! 🙂
