Megan Turns 29 plus 3

Yes, I am still adding years on to my 29th birthday. One would think that 2 years after reaching the 30 year milestone I would be okay with admitting that I am 32 years old, but well while it doesn’t really bother me one bit, I think the wording is cute… 29 plus 3!

My birthday just happened to fall on a Saturday this year, that isn’t common. My birthdays tend to fall during the week each and every year. Having a Saturday birthday this year was nice because it allowed for a day of fun!

Waking up rather early ((thanks Lima Girl)) Josh came up with a few ideas although most had the outdoors as a big part of the day, so after hearing a trip to Boyd’s Bears I decided that is what I would like to do.  Located in Gettysburg, PA the trip took us about 2.5 hours. Boyd’s Bears is literally a big barn filled with zillions upon zillions of stuffed bears. Josh had never been so this was his virgin trip. I had visited the establishment about 4 years ago or so and was so impressed with all the bears and displays of bears! Josh and I managed to really luck out as it was snowing and this must have kept a lot of people home and away from the “country of bears”. We practically had the entire place to ourselves. While we both enjoyed ourselves I do believe it was off-season as a lot of the displays and areas were closed. It was still a fun experience and the best part was watching Josh pick out the first stuffed toy for his daughter! So precious!!!

After our trip to Boyd’s Bears we drove around in our Altima sleigh starting to tour around the Gettysburg battlefields but quickly gave up on that adventure as it was snowing rather hard and we realized we still have a good 2 plus hours to drive home. We did stop in Reading at The Speckled Hen, an eating establishment owned by the same people as Judy’s on Cherry, which I really enjoy! The Speckled Hen has a very intimate and cozy atmosphere. We didn’t have reservations so we weren’t sure if we were going to luck out, but we did. In fact, we thought we really lucked out as they had two high top tables one of which was located right in front of a fireplace – Jackpot!!!! It was such a cold and windy night that the walk from the car froze us solid so the idea of sitting and eating our dinner in front of the open fire was nothing less than perfect for us both. After about 10 minutes we both had wished we took the high top that was off to the side of the fire because we were sweating and still had our entire meal to go!!!!! Dinner was nice and it was so relaxing and special sharing one final birthday as a couple!

Josh of course without question spoiled me and purchased me a strand of beautiful pearls. I have wanted a strand for some time and as Josh stated in his card, while I am paraphrasing he said this is the last year he can spoil me because next year he’ll be taking our daughter to get her mother a gift for her birthday. While we are growing into a family I will ALWAYS cherish our time together past and present and future.. You are my soul mate, love of my life and rock and I will always love you!

Thanks Josh for a terrific birthday, spontaneous and unplanned but one of the best birthdays – I love you!
