Monday evening Josh and I had the 20 week ultrasound for “Peanut”, we were so excited and anxious to find out if our little nut is going to be a Boy Nut or a Girl Nut… but we still have an Unsolved “Nut”!
“Peanut” was not overly cooperative. While this was a routine ultrasound held to measure legs, arms, bladder etc. this is also the ultrasound that gender can be determined if you want to know. Of course we wanted to know!!!! “Peanut” was in such a position that the Technician could not finish and get all the measurements needed, so we are returning in a couple weeks ((February 14th)) to have the remainder of the ultrasound completed and hopefully find out if our little nut is a boy or girl!
I realize that I haven’t written much about my pregnancy of “Peanut” — so here is a brief overview of how the pregnancy has been thus far.
The first Trimester was very different from the first Trimester when I was carrying Ella. This time I was sick a lot and unable to keep food down. I was also extremely tired. Having my life change drastically in a year could have been a contributing factor. When pregnant with Ella I was getting up daily, getting ready for work, traveling 20 miles, working an 8 plus hour day, and then coming home. Now I am home with Ella and while life is still busy, I do not have as strict of a routine and a work load to keep my mind off how I was feeling. Lucky for me, my Mom helped out a great deal. She even gave up her mid-day bus run to come to our house daily and help me with Ella and housework so I was able to get additional rest. As is said, each pregnancy is different!
We had the First Trimester Sequential Screening done. As a reminder this is done to determine the risks/chances of chromosomal abnormalities, Trisomy-18 and spina bifida. This test is done in two separate sessions. The first around 12 weeks and the second around 16 weeks. Both parts of the screening came back fine. Unlike when we had the testing done for Ella, we did not receive a phone call letting us know the likelihood of “Peanut” having a choromosomal abnormality, Trisomy-18 or spina bifida, we were however told that everything looks good! 🙂
Moving into the 2nd Trimester things progressively got better. While still tired, I began to have more energy during the day, although I still take naps when Ella does! My appetite started to come back to me and now, 21 weeks pregnant I am very hungry, all the time!!!! On Martin Luther King Day, I felt “Peanut” move for the first time and just earlier this week Josh felt “Peanut” move. It seems that both our children are active little ones moving and grooving before entering this world!!!
At the 20 week ultrasound “Peanut” weighed approximately 13 ounces and the heartrate was 158 beats per minute.
While we still have 1/2 of this pregnancy to go and a lot to accomplish, I get more and more excited each day for the arrival of “Peanut” … We love you little one!!!
