While I hear the 12th month is a big milestone in everyone’s lives, I have the 9th, 10th and 11th month to tell about and I have reached some rather big ((and impressive)) milestones if I do say so myself!
My 9th Month
Starting the 9th month I found myself rather sick. Mommy, Daddy and both MoMom and PoPop were also sick, what a miserable bunch we were. Mommy took me to see Dr. Kromash because I had developed this rash on my back and neck. Dr. Kromash told Mommy that the rash was due to having a fever, diarrhea and a miserable cold. We really just had to treat the cold with a vaporizer, Vicks Vapor Rub, and my favorite noseball sucker. We were also told that we could elevate my crib, but Mommy and Daddy didn’t do that. After a few days I started feeling better!
Learning to crawl was a huge accomplishment for me. I continued to hear many say that they felt I was just going to walk and skip the crawling stage all together. Now why would I do that??? Crawling is a lot of fun and I have the whole rest of my life to walk!!! My arms weren’t the hold up I learned that I needed my arms to move but I somehow would get myself up on arms and then move backwards on my stomach. This technique didn’t really help me much because I would end up moving further away from my toys or anyone who was playing with me!!! I had to figure this out, I just had to! Finally at the beginning of February ((2/6/11)) I found all fours and was in the crawling position, YEA!!! Only thing being, I would bounce backwards like a Leap Frog in reverse! As PoPop would say often, I had one gear only – Reverse!
I have also made some advancements with eating. It is fun trying new foods and moving away from all the pureed jarred foods! My Aunt Jaime told my Mommy and Daddy about a little gadget that you could put fresh fruit in and I could suck on the mesh and start getting the natural juice flavors of many fruits. Mommy tried this little gadget with me earlier on in my life, but I wasn’t overly impressed with it… however, trying fresh pineapple had me instantly hooked!!! That juice is just the yummiest!!! Near the end of January ((1/25/11)) I really started to advance, Mommy and Daddy gave me these crunchy little star shapes that come in many flavors – Gerber Graduate Puffs. The fun thing about these little goodies are that they dissolve in my mouth so I can’t choke. It is a great way to teach a little one like me to self feed without the worry of me choking!!! I loved Puffs, couldn’t get enough of them!! 4 months later and I still enjoy Puffs, good stuff!!! While I am still very into my bottle, I have started using a Sippy Cup ((I drink from a sippy cup, I’m a big kid now – Charlie Waffles)) drinking water and juice… it is a little different than a bottle, but I do like holding the cup and trying something new!
A few other highlights from my 9th month:
- Dada’s are more and more clear, so are Baba’s
- Mommy found me on my tummy in my crib on 1/14/11 and I was reaching for my Moo Cow!
- I help Mommy fold laundry, it is my job to oversee the collecting of all the socks! 🙂
- MoMom and PoPop vacationed in Myrtle Beach for a week and I had fun Skyping with them while they were away! It was fun seeing them on the computer screen. 🙂
My 10th Month
The 10th month of my life I focused on one major thing, getting this crawling thing accomplished!!! I successfully crawled forward in the early days of February! Mommy and Daddy were so proud of me, little did they realize this meant that I was no longer stationary. This now meant that I would be going everywhere and getting into a lot, even if they didn’t want me to! Once I got the crawling thing down, I immediately wanted to be up and on my feet. Holding the hands of Mommy and/or Daddy really was pure enjoyment to me as I was up on my feet exactly where I wanted to be! By the beginning of March ((3/7/11)) I was standing on my own against the couch! Soon I will be walking, practice makes perfect!!!
You know how things just happen to you that you don’t have any control over? Well I started having these little pesty things happen to me and I had no control over them. Those things Mommy would tell me to grow all of a sudden started to pop thru my gums!!! Yes, Teeth!!!! On February 10th tooth holes appeared for my bottom to center teeth, yea double whammie… :\ By the end of February I had successfully gained two pearly whites in my mouth. Those things hurt and I had my days and some nights that Mommy and Daddy gave me some yummy cherry goo that helped with the pain… thank you Mommy and Daddy. I had some rough nights that the pain woke me up and really made me uncomfortable so I am so glad that they gave me that yummy goo!
On February 20th I was baptized and became one of Jesus’s children. It was an exciting day for me! So many family and friends came to our church and watched as Pastor Dave sprinkled me with water. All our family and friends promised to lead me in a Christian life. Mommy and Daddy chose two very special people to be my Godparents – my Aunt Lauren and my Uncle Matt. They stood with Mommy, Daddy and me in front of the church family and after everyone promised to lead me in a Christian life and after I was sprinkled with water, I then met my new church family! Pastor Dave carried me around for the entire congregation to see and meet me! It was fun as he walked fast and I liked zooming around seeing everyone smile at me!!! We then had a nice lunch in my honor at MoMom and PoPops house. I slept for awhile because it was such a big morning for me, but once I was up I had fun spending time with my family and friends!!! It was a very special day for me!!!
I had my Wellness Exam with Dr. Kromash on March 3rd and weighed 24 pounds 1 oz and was 29.5 inches in length. My hemoglobin was also good!!! Dr. Kromash said he’d see me once I turned one and can you believe they wanted to bring me in for a checkup on my birthday!!!!!! No way,
A few other highlights from my 10th month:
- On March 1st I clapped my hands for the first time by myself
- On 3/2/11 I took a bath and pooped in the tub!!!
- Mommy and I wave into my bedroom mirror every morning and say good morning to each other. On 3/5/11 I waved by myself for the first time!
- On 3/5/11 I had yogurt for the first time, wow yummy!!!
- On 3/8/11 I mimicked the tea kettle which was boiling water on the stove
My 11th Month
Another trip to Dr. Kromash because of being sick… this time however I was diagnosed with a double ear infection and was being treated with eye drops as my eyes were slightly red and Dr. felt it best to be proactive and use drops “just in case” pink eye was on it’s way. Being sick and having people stick syringes, droppers and rubs in and on you isn’t fun. I was on amoxicilian for my ears, eye drops for my eyes, saline to help with my stuffy nose, plus Vicks Vapor rub. Mommy and Daddy even put Vapor rub on my feet at night!!!! Daddy also elevated my crib matress to help me breathe at night!! I was glad when I got better and was much happier when I didn’t have to take all those medicines.
Mommy and Daddy went away overnight to NYC to see friends and a show. I ended up staying at my house with Floppie, Ebony and Benz with MoMom. I was suppose to stay overnight at their house, but since I haven’t learned the words to ” To Grandmothers House We Go” I couldn’t go there yet… I’m kidding.. since I was sick MoMom decided to stay at my house so I would have the comfort of my crib and home!!! Mommy and Daddy had a nice trip and I was so happy to see them when they came home!!! I missed them!!! But thank you MoMom and PoPop for watching me while they were away, I had fun!
At the beginning of April 4/6/11 I stood by myself for the first time. It was a real quick, blink you miss it stand, but I did it!!! I now use my Deeno Dino to help me stand on my own.
A few other highlights of my 11th month:
- I held my bottle by myself for the first time on 3/11/11
- My third tooth holes appeared (top left tooth)
- I continue to mimick noises (dogs, horns, tv sounds)
- I also continue to wave at people, dogs, cars etc.
- More and more real food I have experienced: Banana, grapes, oranges, pasta, toast, grilled cheese, mashed potatoes, ice cream
My 9th, 10th and 11th month flew by and I continue everyday to learn and experience new things! I can’t wait to see what I learn next!!!
