Now that the summer is officially behind us I felt it best to let everyone in on the game Josh and I came to develop over the summer months back and forth from our house to my parents house…..
Being that every Wednesday we took Floppie and Ebony to my parents for what became known as “Doggie Day Care” we came accustom to seeing many people out in the streets at 8:00am. Some were children playing, others were walking their dogs, or even just walking down the sidewalks to wherever they were headed, however some were just sitting. Question now is on a Porch or on a Stoop?
We really started to focus all of our attention on this. Both in the morning hours and evening hours and if we were at my parents on a Saturday or Sunday we would make sure to see just who was seated where on our travels to and from.
Before too long this became a game – our own unique silly game!
“Doggie Day Care” lucky for us has continued into this fall, and with that our game prevails!!
We have started questioning what buildings count, if there needs to be a porch or a stoop on the street at hand or just an entrance way? If there is just an entrance way but a stoop or porch on that same building on an intersecting street will that stoop count if someone is on it?
You may ask Have we gotten a little carried away? Maybe we have, but it is fun and brings a smile to our face every trip across town. So if you have a street that you drive quiet often in a city atmosphere maybe try it out and see just how fun it can be!!!

Cute game, but let’s get it striaght.
A Stoop is NOT A PORCH!
A porch has a chair….. perferably a rocking one… I guess it’s still a porch without a chair, but I just can’t imagine that. The chair has to be big enough to wrap that big special blanket around you in the rain, or chilly evening.
On the other hand, an “area” on the front of a house, without a porch; or maybe just a couple of stairs to place your bottom on and play the “people watching game” is a Stoop. (No place to sit?… just “stoop” down, get comfortable and talk to your kids or neighbors.) ….in my opinion.
Either one….their the best!
Always remember… people on the stoop/porch are watching you, watching them, because stoop/porch people are definately playing the “people watching game”, too!
Got it ? 🙂

Exactly… A porch is a porch – chairs, tables, an area to atleast stand on while a stoop is usually just a step or two.
