Megan and I spent Thanksgiving this year down at my parent’s place in Southern New Jersey. It was nice finally getting to spend an entire holiday with just one set of family instead of having to split the day between two places, two families and two meals.
After sleeping in a little longer then normal on a weekday, Megan and I got out of bed and began making one of our new dishes to bring – a nice Vegetable Cheese Casserole. Then after taking showers and getting dressed, we headed out for the great state of New Jersey.
We spent the day with my Mother, Father, Grandmother and Cousin Ed, May and Marie sharing stories and making funny comments all while hanging out in the kitchen trying to help with appetizers and dinner. Appetizers consisted of stuffed mushrooms, deviled eggs, those croissant wrappie things and this bread-like thing that I didn’t try (sorry Mom). Everyone enjoyed all the snacks throughout the day, along with some wine and “alcohol-free Miller Light”.
Dinner time came around quick and we all couldn’t wait to eat: Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Stuffing, Carrots, Corn, Gravy (yeah, that’s another story – MOM!) and our vegetable casserole. Oh, plus nice roles that weren’t burnt! After eating dinner came the next tradition – time to eat Dad’s Apple Pies! Yummie!
Shortly after desert Ed, May and Marie decided to leave, which left a nice opening for a friendly game of Hand & Foot! But seriously, guess who won? Soon after it was time for us to head out as we still had a good hour plus ride home.
What a wonderful Thanksgiving for 2006!!!
Oh! We have pictures just haven’t put them online yet. I’ll try to do that this weekend!
