My Snaps

I was advised by many that talking to Ella and teaching her through every day happenings can really aid in brain development and knowledge.  My girlfriend Sarah, taught her son Samuel animals and the sound they  make by age of 2 ((maybe earlier, not sure)) and his alphabet, which he now can say backwards and he isn’t even 3 yet! She told Josh and myself that she just talked to Samuel and would use simple ways and daily routines to teach him.

Being that I am home with Ella during the day, I try to talk and sing to Ella a lot. I just create songs as I go along and find myself singing everything I do! Ella watches and observes and has become a very observant little girl. She does not like laying down ((unless she is tired)) and always wants to be in an upright position and looking at her surroundings, she doesn’t miss a thing!

The one thing I started doing with Ella is when she gets dressed we count snaps. This started when dressing her in the evenings into her “beddies”. We would count each snap as I snapped it.  It has become our evening thing and has even become a daily thing , because a lot of onesies and other clothing have snaps! Some of Ella’s “beddies” have zippers, but they still have that one snap at the top and I always say to Ella “Ok, let’s count our snaps” and when there is only one it is real quick “one snap”.

The littlest things make the best memories. Josh and I giggle and talk about how counting snaps keeps Ella’s attention and how it probably is being absorbed in that brain of hers. While she doesnt’ know her animals or alphabet yet, we are hoping that our small teachings, which we find fun, will aid in Ella learning and developing, if not – we are still having fun counting snaps and we’ll have that memory and story to share with Ella!  One Snap!!! 🙂
