An exchange of words like this makes me smile and so glad they have each other. Cooper: You're my best friend Ella. Ella: You're my best friend too Coop.

Ella asked me a question. I replied ""mmmhhmmm" She looked at me and asked "yes? I don't know what mmhhmmm means." Fair enough. Bad Mommy.

Most children these days have Tablets or IPods. Call me old fashioned but I was doing my best to do activities that didn't involve an electronic device. Not that I didn't want my children to be exposed to these forms of technology I just felt they would miss out on so much else plus I didn't want them being the type of child who is always wanting to be on their Tablet. Ella was introduced to the Tablet about a year ago and would use it from time to time before Cooper would get up in the mornings. She would go through phases of wanting to use it every morning to forgetting about it and not using it for awhile. Over this past weekend Cooper asked to play a game on it. He wakes up asking to play the Tablet now. Last night Josh and I sucked it up and ordered each child one of the new Kindle Fires coming out for children. I know it's important and today's society is computer based/driven. We have taken quite a few long distance trips and our children have done well without them. Yes having them would have probably made those trips a little more bearable at times but it also gave them the experience of doing other travel activities. I know Ella and Cooper will enjoy the Kindles and while I'm sure they will at times prefer to use them I'm hoping I built a foundation in them that they will still enjoy some of the old fashioned activities that we've done together!

So....... Josh and I are HUGE DVR people. Why not? Watch everything you want to watch in close to half the time as you cut out commercials! Tonight we are watching "The VOICE" Live, which means we are having to suffer through commercials. I've realized how spoiled we truly are and how I never ever want to give up my DVR box.

Happy to report today was the first day Cooper didn't show any signs of not wanting to go into his classroom. He walked in without hesitating even when another little boy in his class was in tears. Maybe by Thanksgiving we will be doing car line :-)

Everyone parents differently. Just like everyone has a different belief in what is "ok" sleep arrangements with children. Josh Cook and I have never, to this day let our children sleep in our bed at night. We heard many stories from other parents before having our two children about the nightmares that come from letting your children share your bed. Josh and I went into parenthood knowing this was something we would not permit. There have been times in the 4plus years of parenthood that we've wanted to open the sheets and let them in, but have always stuck with our belief and kept the sheets tucked around us. Last night I ended up in Ellas room after she woke up numerous times coughing. She laid her head on my arm as I was seated in her bed and she laid up against me falling asleep for what felt like a decade before she rolled off of me and onto her propped up pillow. Yes I loved every second of her snuggling with me and falling asleep on me as it reminded me of when she and her brother were babies who I'd rock and cuddle however the stiff neck and discomfort from her leaning up against me again confirmed our decision of not letting our children sleep with us. To each there own but having my children happy sleeping in their own beds each night and not needing to fight the fight of getting them into their own bed and not waking up with a stiff neck our get kicked all night is one less challenge I have a parent. I have many challenges but thankfully I don't have the "which bed do I being in" challenge!!!
