Planning a wedding can often be stressful – aside from picking your reception location, a photographer, finding a DJ, etc – other stresses sometimes just pop-up completely unexpected ((i.e. See Megan’s post about the H…)). While we still have a lot of things to accomplish that are very time consuming and will probably bring a certain level of stress, last night was just a little different.
A little bit of great food, a lot of great wine and no stress!
When we chose La Massaria for the location of our wedding reception, we were informed we could sample any of the entrees available for our wedding to help us decide on our selections. Knowing we did not have to make this choose on our own, we recruited friend and family to join us for our taste testing. Both Megan’s parents and our mutual friend Lauren joined us last night for taste-test time!
Out of the many entries available to choose from, we were able to pick four to sample that evening. Our choices were:
- Chicken Marsala
- Grilled London Broil
- Chicken Francaise
- Prime Rib of Beef
In addition to sampling the four choices above, our meal also came with the chef’s choice of side dished, which were a very cheesy risotto and a fresh vegetable medley. After we finished our dinner we were also surprised that dessert was offered as well, a fresh baked piece of yellow cake and a piece of pound cake was offered ((and accepted)) to each of us.
Although most reception locations probably offer a taste-testing, La Massaria did do something very unique. While we did have to pay for our taste-testing ((a very reasonable fee)), we had available to us an unlimited supply of five types of wine. Yes, you read that correct, unlimited!
We probably would have had many more glasses of wine if it was just the two of us, but because we didn’t want to get stupidly drunk with family and friend we did decide to restrain ourselves just a bit. The good news though, is that we’re allows as many of these taste-testing sessions as we want. So it’s very possible we’ll be going back alone in the very near future!
