Ella just gave her Dora doll a check up...she got out her big book of boo boos and I asked her what Dora has. Her response "Bird Earosis"
When I asked her what that is she said...a bird is living in Doras ear!
Oh my!....She then told me it would fly out in a few days!
Imagination, one of the best gifts!

Early morning lesson with Ella.....teaching her about skin color.
Ella has toy princesses, one of which is Tiana, who has brown skin. Ella tells me that she has muddy skin. I decided it was time to explain that there are many people in this world and some are going to have a different color skin then she does. I used a little girl who is in her preschool class as an example. I went on to explain that while we may look different on the outside having different skin colors, hair styles, etc. We are all the same on the inside.
I truly hope she doesn't go to school tomorrow and think the little girl in her class is muddy.

I hate having to get stern with the children before bed but lately it's been needed and been a nightly thing.
Ella doesn't want to go to bed and fights us. Once in her room and into the bedtime routine she tends to be ok.
Cooper has been the real cookie...he cries, screams and fights us. Doesn't want to brush his teeth and as soon as you start to he wants to...once that process is over. He then gives us a hard time changing into bed clothes. Then it's time to read a book...Lordy, Lordy...We read 2 books and in his eyes that just isn't enough so he cries "one more time"...explaining to him nightly that we read two books and it's time lay down and say prayer. He tends to fight us and we need to give him the choice to lay down or not have any songs or prayer. Once we say prayer we then sing 3 songs. His favorite is "You Are My Sunshine". It has gotten so out of hand that Josh and I have ended up singing it 6 times a few nights!!
Tonight I had enough and became firm stern Mommy. He cried and cried and cried and in the end I went back into his room to explain to him that I would not sing him the song again that I sang it 4 times and it was bedtime and that Daddy and I love him and I'd check in on him later. He rolled over and I haven't heard a peep since.
How I wish they would just get it, how I wish it wouldn't be a nightly thing...consistency is key and while we do our best to be as consistent as possible they somehow still try to get all they can get out of us.
Once again a not so great thing of parenting but I do know in time they will go to bed by themselves and Josh and I will miss these moments, we will be looking back at these nights as memories wishing we could have just one more night of them giving us a hard time because when that happens, what we think as a hard time now will probably be considered easy as the hard things will have changed!

Putting Ella to bed earlier tonight we shared one of those moments that a parent always cherishes.....full blown uncontrollable laughter by both parent and child!
While the culprit of the uncontrollable laughter is fresh on my mind now, it will fade for sure but the memory of the laughter shared by the two of us and Ella's face smiling and squished at the same time from her laughs that I am sure could be heard in our neighbors!
Nights like tonight are nights we as parents love and cherish always!
Always and forever stay happy, carefree and make sure to always laugh Ella! I love you!

There is a dog on Doc McStuffins whose name is Rudy, she is the neighbor's dog. Ella just renamed Ebony Rudy and she is now her doctor dog.
I explained that Ebony won't respond to Rudy as that isn't her name. She responded by telling me that Ebony can be her "Cook" name! I asked what her"Cook" name is and she replied "Ella"
How many other names does my Daughter go by???
I can think of a few!
