I know children do things as they are children and they learn from their mistakes. Yesterday I had a challenging parental moment, and while everything turned out ok, it could have ended very differently. I look at the situation, which I don't care to go into, and I wonder what thoughts ran through the brain of the child as they made the choices they made. Was it a completely innocent act, while completely wrong, innocent at the same time. If it was intentional, was the child scared enough from the outcome to never do it again? I parented the best I could and in parental moments like this I must say I was mortified. To accept and love this child unconditionally. To face the outcome and deal with it. To do your best to teach the child what you thought they already had a clear understanding about and thought you knew they understood what they did was wrong. It was hard. I felt like I failed. All is okay now, and it's time to move on and continue to teach the best we can as parents, love unconditionally and be there in support and to help them as much as we can when our children get themselves in STICKY situations. Parenting isn't easy and those who honestly in their hearts can say it is easy our parenting tactics must be way different. I know I personally have gained many a gray hair from the trials of parenting. I look back at how often when both children were babies I thought things were hard and everyone who had older children would say "just you wait it only gets harder" - I can confirm, it does, that is the truth. I know I didn't fail. I know I have taught and continue to teach my children right from wrong, What is good and what is bad. I also know children do things sometimes without thinking and accidentally. They learn through the mistakes they make and take those occurrences and use them to better themselves. This is my hope. I hope that the accident that happened yesterday is learned from and that both children and myself can walk away from the experience having learned something and use that in our futures.

Today was a challenging day & I am so glad that it is now time to relax with the husband. He came home with wine as he knew after the day I had, sipping wine was on my agenda tonight.
